Welcome to BEYUNIQUE

BEYUNIQUE IS AN ETHOS OF LIFE, FOUNDED BY LUCY YUN IN 2010. IT IS NOT DERIVED FROM BEY-ONCE, BUT IS CREATED FROM LUCY'S LAST NAME, YUN, COMBINED WITH HER MOTTO OF LIFE TO BE UNIQUE.

About

WHAT IS BEYUNIQUE?

BEYUNIQUE is an ethos of life founded by Lucy Yun. Since she was very young, she has been non-stop searching her soul. Her never-ending journeys continued from personality tests to travelling throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America. One thing was very clear- she always yearned to be herself; not to be swayed by mega trends, brainwashed by mass media, or influenced by celebrities. When she moved to Vancouver in 2010, she created BEYUNIQUE, which means to be YUN (herself) and to BE UNIQUE. A decade has flown by, BEYUNIQUE still stands as a place for Lucy's self-expressionism.

Lucy is fantastic to work with - she is a visionary who is full of creative ideas and a quick mind (and hands) to get the work done in a timely fashion! We loved her so much as our graphic designer on a project that offered her to work work with us in-house as a Creative and Marketing Lead. We would highly recommend Lucy for her gorgeous design sense, efficiency, and professionalism. Did I mention she is super fun and sweet too?! Thank you Lucy for bringing our creative projects to fruition.

[Collection] Thom Browne S/S 2015 Ready-to-Wear

Every fashion week has its general theme; To me, New York Fashion Week is all about functional, practical and wearable just like the Protestant philosophy. Thom Browne, on the other hand, presented nothing like the theme. His show was full of avant-garde, shocking(in a good way) and uneasy to wear which I think it was a collection that can be seen from Haute-Couture Fashion Show in Paris.  Such a genius way of mixing patterns, accessorizing with head wraps, tower hats, and decorative elements on garments.  In short, it was definitely one of my favourite fashion shows during New York Fashion Week.

[Collection] Peter Som Spring/Summer 2015 at New York Fashion Week

I get quite ecstatic when I see an innovative, creative and unconventional work by designers. Seeing something unseen or unprecedented that is suggested with new way of wearing is probably why I got into fashion, but still gets me excited. I felt that kind of joy and excitement when I saw Peter Som's Spring/Summer 2015 during New York Fashion Week; especially from the first look which is an Army Green skirt, very structured, stiff and sleek, over top of a printed shirt dress. At this collection, there are so many creative ideas to learn how to layer for spring/summer such as wearing shredded panel skirt underneath light-weighed white sweater or crochet mesh wrap on top of white shirt dress. As mentioned in a couple of posts before, What I Would Wear This Fall, I love fall fashion because of adding layers. Now, spring/summer may become my favourite seasons of the year with new layering ways that I learned from Peter Som.

[Street Style] BEYUNIQUE x BENJAMIN KWAN

I had such a pleasure photo shooting with this very talented fashion photographer, Benjamin Kwan. Ben had all the location scouted beforehand the photo shoot, with consideration of me changing outfits. His respectful manners yet straight-forward directions had harmonized with my personality very well, thus, we were able to create a result that represents my style yet features his photography talent at the same time. Which is why I can confidently claim that this is the best collaboration of all the work I have done so far. To see more of his work, visit www.benjaminkwan.com. I am very excited to revealing our collaboration as below and looking forward to working with him again.
