Welcome to BEYUNIQUE

BEYUNIQUE IS AN ETHOS OF LIFE, FOUNDED BY LUCY YUN IN 2010. IT IS NOT DERIVED FROM BEY-ONCE, BUT IS CREATED FROM LUCY'S LAST NAME, YUN, COMBINED WITH HER MOTTO OF LIFE TO BE UNIQUE.

About

WHAT IS BEYUNIQUE?

BEYUNIQUE is an ethos of life founded by Lucy Yun. Since she was very young, she has been non-stop searching her soul. Her never-ending journeys continued from personality tests to travelling throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America. One thing was very clear- she always yearned to be herself; not to be swayed by mega trends, brainwashed by mass media, or influenced by celebrities. When she moved to Vancouver in 2010, she created BEYUNIQUE, which means to be YUN (herself) and to BE UNIQUE. A decade has flown by, BEYUNIQUE still stands as a place for Lucy's self-expressionism.

[Travel] Birthday Weekend in Victoria

I spent my birthday weekend, July 6th to 8th, in beautiful Victoria where I've been dreaming of visiting for a long time as I haven't been able to in 4 years since I lived there. My sweet boyfriend booked a hotel for a couple of nights as a surprise; so he who also lived in Victoria a long time ago and I were reminiscing our memories as wandering around downtown and Inner Harbour area, eating delicious meals and driving along the beach. We also visited Sooke, Jordan River, Sombrio, Port Renfrew and Duncan which was a long way drive for a day yet totally worth our time. As getting tanned at Sombrio Beach without awareness of how much time passed by, we missed one and only event that we had planned: UFC 148. Seems like plan no plan works the best for us, just like that we saw the Pride Parade out of no plan on my birthday. Overall, the weekend was definitely one of the best birthdays I've ever had due to the best bf in the world.

[Collection] Raf Simons's Final Collection for Jil Sander 2012 Fall

Photos via Style.com

2012 Fall Ready-to-wear Jil Sander Collection was a sad good-bye of Raf Simons as Jil Sander announced to return to her namesake brand. Raf Simons who had signed up for Creative Director at Christian Dior represented his last collection for Jil Sander with classic and elegant cocoon shaped jackets and dresses. Every look was very exquisite, sedated yet even conservative and sacred as some of the models wrapped the front of jacket or coat which seemed like a unsung good-bye message by Raf. Personally, I was very saddened by the news as I am such a big fan of him at Jil Sander that the minimal and crisp silhouettes he carried over the seasons had mesmerized me. Thus when I saw the video of Christian Dior's collection by Raf Simons I was quite disappointed. I don't think he is the right fit for the brand; not because he is not a great designer but because he is talented at delivering minimal and simple clothes. However, Christian Dior is well known for exaggerated and splendid aesthetics. Although I am very excited about Jil Sander's future collection by the namesake designer and wishing all the best for Raf Simons at Christian Dior, I can't help feeling that I will miss him at Jil Sander.
